UK National Groups
Revolt Fighting Power Line Proposals - Started with a campaign against a 400 kV overhead powerline in Yorkshire, but now operating on a nationwide basis. This site contains a wealth of information about issues relating to power lines, and energy matters generally.
Scottish Groups
Stirling Before Pylons Our sister organisation campaigning against the Beauly to Denny overhead line as it passes through the Stirling area. Natural and cultural landscapes are of concern, but health risks become of great importance where the line passes very close to houses.
Cairngorms Revolt Against Pylons Unbelievably, SSE are proposing to route the new Beauly to Denny overhead line through the Cairngorms National Park, doubling the size of existing pylons to 50 metres. Help the campaign to improve the environment of the national park, by placing the line underground.
Pylon Pressure A Beauly based group, raising awareness of the implications of the Beauly to Denny upgrade for that beautiful Highland town.
Groups from around the world
A.M.P. A collective of three community groups along the Flagford to Shrannagh- Ballysumaghan 220/110kV Proposed Powerline Route (Carrick on Shannon to Sligo), in Ireland. Campaigning for the line to be placed underground.
Collectif Non a la THT An association uniting all those working against a new 400kV overhead power line crossing the Pyrénées between France and Spain.
No Towers Camaigning against a new line of huge high voltage transmission towers from Auckland to Whakamaru, ranging across some of New Zealand’s most picturesque land.
STOP A Canadian group (Stop Transmission Lines Over People) that aims to advocate the hault to construction of hazardous hydro towers and lines in close proximity to residents, schools and businesses in order to safeguard the physical and economic health of the community.

Save Our Unique Lands ...is a grassroots organization whose mission is to promote efficient and orderly management of power, based on the needs of Wisconsin, while protecting the natural, social and economic environments and citizens of Wisconsin, USA.


  Environmental Groups

Environmental groups with aims that encompass our objectives. These organisations have joined to form the Beauly Denny Landscape Group, presenting a united front in presenting the arguments against the need for a new overhead power line between the Hignlands and the central belt of Scotland.

John Muir Trust The John Muir Trust is a leading UK charity dedicated to the protection of wild land for both nature and people.
Scottish-born John Muir inspired the name and ethos, as the first person to call for action to be taken to protect wild land, and an instrumental figure in the modern conservation movement.
National Trust for Scotland The National Trust for Scotland is the conservation charity that protects and promotes Scotland's natural and cultural heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
Rambers Association Scotland Ramblers Scotland is the representative body for walkers in Scotland, and its overall aim is to encourage walking and public understanding of the outdoors by, amongst other things, protecting the outdoor environment.
The Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland Formed in 1926, the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland (APRS) works to protect Scotland's world renowned landscape and the amenity of the countryside.
Scottish Wild Land Group The Scottish Wild Land Group works to protect and conserve wild land throughout Scotland. SWLG is in favour of sensitive development of rural areas where it is sustainable and takes account of the interests of local communities.
The Mountaineering Council of Scotland The representative body for climbers, walkers, mountaineers and cross-country skiers who enjoy the Scottish mountains.



  Wind Farm Action Groups

HBP does not campaign against wind farms. However, the objectives of the following organisations are closely aligned with our own.

Moorland without Windmills
Residents on Lewis seeking to protect the landscape, natural habitats, people, and local enonomy of the island, by campaigning against inappropriate industrial dvelopments, such as the current proposals for major wind farms.
Views of Scotland
Formed at the 2002 Perth Conference on Renewable Energy, and campaigning for better long term planning in the development of renewable energy technologies.
Country Guardian A UK wide campaign to oppose wind turbines in Britain's precious landscapes, and promote energy conservation.



  Energy Savings

By reducing the amount of energy that we all consume, we can also reduce the need for major extensions to the national transmission grid. Links to relevant web sites will be included here.
